11/2009 - At 103 Eva is as lovely and amazing as ever.  We look forward to her birthday party every November.  The food is always an eastern-European treat; Hungarian goulash or stuffed cabbage, followed by lots of wine, cake and chocolates.  The apartment is filled with friends and family and Eva-vase-after-Eva-vase of fragrant, flowers sent by well-wishers. 

In the midst of the celebration, Eva receives each of her guests wIth quiet conversation.  It's touching to see how much Eva adores her grandchildren and how much they adore her.  Her granddaughter Talisman Brolin, is a talented photographer and snapped the black and white shot of us.

I am sure you can imagine what an intimidating task it can be to get Eva a birthday gift.  What do you get for a woman who has everything, or had it and outlived it?!   For her 100th birthday we gave her our version of a pearl necklace; a knotted string of 100 porcelain "pearls."  This year we gave her our Herman Miller tops, which turned out to be a perfect gift. She loved the heft and finish in her hands and we had a great time playing with them!
